People have loved gemstones for thousands of years. They are rare, beautiful. Have interesting stories. At Kef Diamonds we work with the natural gemstones. Each one is chosen for its colour, clarity and character.
Let us tell you about the four famous precious stones used in fine jewellery.
Diamond
Diamond is the natural substance on earth. It is made of carbon. Diamonds were formed over a billion years ago within the earth under extreme heat and pressure. They are very old and very brilliant. People love diamonds for their hardness, their ability to shine and their purity. At Kef Diamonds all our diamonds are natural and conflict-free. We give you a certificate of authenticity with each diamond.
Emerald
Emerald is a type of mineral called beryl. It gets its colour from chromium and vanadium. Emerald has been a symbol of royalty and rebirth for thousands of years. The best emeralds come from Colombia, Zambia and Afghanistan. They have inclusions that’re like a garden. These inclusions are a part of the emerald.
Sapphire
Sapphire is a type of mineral called corrundum. It is most famous for its colour.. It comes in many colours like yellow pink, green and purple. The colour depends on the elements inside the crystal. Some sapphires have a star effect when they are cut. The best sapphires come from Kashmir, Burma and Sri Lanka.
Ruby
Ruby is a type of corundum that’s red. It gets its colour from chromium. Ruby has been associated with passion, protection and power for thousands of years. The best rubies are very red. Come from Burma, Mozambique and Thailand. A good ruby can be more expensive than a diamond.
